James Wharton will race for Fortec Motorsport in the two rounds of the GB3 championship at Silverstone. This will be his official debut at the historic English circuit, where Formula 1 held its first race and where many major motorsport championships are held.
The Australian is eager to gain more experience and prove his potential in uncharted territory, besides his full-time FRECA commitment.
James Wharton had a decent start in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship at the start of the year, achieving multiple podium finishes. He also set the fastest time on the first day of practice during the official FRECA pre-season tests at Barcelona. In 2024, he will have ample opportunities to gain new experiences in this exciting and eventful season.
James Wharton, Fortec Motorsport Driver
«First of all, I wanna thank Fortec Motorsport for the opportunity they gave me. It will be such a great experience to drive a new car on a new track and, surely, will be quite challenging with no testing. But I feel I can do a good weekend, and stepping into something new is always a great learning process. Can’t wait for the challenge and I can’t wait to start working with the team».
Oliver Dutton, Fortec Motorsport Team Principal
«We’re really happy to welcome James to the team for both of the Silverstone GB3 Championship weekends. His development has been rapid in the past few years, and this will be another valuable experience for him as he races on a new track and gets to grips with a new car».
James Wharton will be competing in two separate rounds of the GB3 Championship at Silverstone, the first taking place from the 25th to the 28th of April and the second on July 27th to the 28th.
