The weekend began with two collective test sessions, where Wharton finished fourth in both, using the opportunity to fine-tune his car and strategy ahead of the more critical sessions. His tenacity paid off spectacularly from Saturday onwards, as he secured pole position for both of the weekend’s races, laying the groundwork for his commanding performances.

In Race 1, Wharton’s start from pole was flawless. He maintained the lead from the outset, mastering the Barcelona circuit with precision on every lap. Throughout the race, he kept his rivals at bay, showcasing superb racecraft, particularly in the high-speed sectors, where he built a comfortable gap. Wharton crossed the finish line as the undisputed leader, claiming his first victory of the weekend.

This result is not only a significant milestone in his career but also a critical contribution to Prema’s success in the team standings. Reflecting on his success in Barcelona, James said: "It was a perfect weekend. Two wins and two poles is the maximum we could do. The car was amazing all weekend, and I cannot thank Prema enough. I wouldn’t be here without the team. I want to thank everybody at the track, and everyone back at the factory, my engineer, and mechanics. We now go to Monza to get more wins to finish off the year."

The Barcelona round marked a pivotal moment in the 2024 FRECA season, with Wharton emerging as one of the championship’s strongest contenders. His performance not only solidified his position in the drivers' championship but also reinforced his status as one of the most promising young talents in motorsport.

With just one round remaining, all eyes will now turn to Monza, the "Temple of Speed," where the final chapter of the 2024 FRECA season will unfold from October 25 to 27. Buoyed by the momentum from his Barcelona success, Wharton will be aiming to continue his upward trajectory for even greater success in the season finale.
