James Wharton is proud to announce his next step in motorsport as he joins the ART Grand Prix team for the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship. Following an impressive rookie season in the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), James is set to take on the highly competitive Formula 3 grid, a crucial stage on the road to Formula 1.
Wharton has shown remarkable growth and consistency on the racetrack. His performance in FRECA, including four victories and four third-place finishes, positioned him as one of the most promising young drivers. Now, as part of ART Grand Prix — a team with a prestigious history of developing some of the biggest names in motorsport — James will embark on his most ambitious challenge yet.
“I can't thank ART Grand Prix enough for this incredible opportunity. This is undoubtedly the most significant step in my racing career so far, and I deeply appreciate the trust they’ve placed in me and my potential. I’m eager to start working with one of the most prestigious teams on the grid, and we’ll put in the hard work this winter to be fully prepared when the season kicks off”, James Wharton said.
ART Grand Prix is a powerhouse in junior single-seaters, having won multiple championships in Formula 3 and Formula 2. Their ability to shape young drivers into future Formula 1 stars has been demonstrated through the success of former drivers like Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, and Charles Leclerc. For Wharton, this move represents a milestone in his racing career, providing access to world-class facilities, data analysis, and mentorship that will be critical as he navigates the challenges of Formula 3.
The 2025 Formula 3 season will kick off with pre-season testing in early March, with the first race taking place at the Bahrain International Circuit. Throughout the season, James will compete across ten rounds, each held alongside prestigious Formula 1 Grand Prix weekends, providing unmatched exposure and experience.
